Entry requirements for CHC40313 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention

Prerequisites for our Program

Students must meet the following criteria:

  • be aged 18 years or over
  • be an existing worker within an Out of Home Care Program
  • have the support of a supervisor or employer
  • able to commit to the course duration and time commitment

These entry requirements will be confirmed through information collected on the enrolment form including confirmation from the workplace supervisor or employer

Language Literacy and Numeracy

The applicant to undertake this program requires well developed language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills relevant to the context of their role. The applicant’s LLN skills will be evaluated during the enrolment process to ensure persons enrolling in the program have the skills to complete all training and assessment. This evaluation is through the enrolment interview and completion by the student of the Aptitude test. (Resource from AANNT)

Applicants who are identified as not being able to be supported, having low level of LLN, may be referred to a third party training provider for specialist assistance prior to returning for enrolment in the program. (See LLN Policy for further details)

Working With Children Clearance Notice NT (Ochre Card)

Any person employed or volunteering in child-related work is required by law to hold a Clearance Notice. It will therefore be a mandatory requirement to hold a Clearance Notice in order to complete any work placement.

Computer requirements

Students will need access to a computer and the internet. For students who do not have access to either a computer or the internet please contact Administration to discuss alternative methods of communication. Minimum specifications for the computer are: 

  • Microsoft Office 2003, and
  • Microsoft Windows 98, or
  • Mac OS X, and
  • CD-ROM drive.

Students will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Desktop: One of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 10 or above, Chrome, Firefox or Safari
  • Mobile: iOS 6 or above, Android 4.3 or above

Students will also need access to the internet in order to access the e-Learning website (Diaro) and a current email address.
